Manfred Schweigkofler
An internationally acclaimed creative director, producer, stage director, set and lighting designer, and event organizer, he has presented his productions to audiences in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and the United States.
From 2001 to 2012, he served as General Manager and Artistic Director of the Nuovo Teatro Comunale di Bolzano. Between 2002 and 2012, he was also the General Manager and Artistic Director of Bolzano Danza, Italy’s leading international dance festival.
He has earned recognition from both audiences and critics for his dance and music projects, particularly for crossover productions distinguished by the fusion of diverse musical styles and artistic expressions. He has also created numerous large-scale events connected with international sporting competitions, including the opening ceremony of the 2007 Biathlon World Championships in Italy.
He is active as a lecturer in destination management and event organization, and regularly gives lectures on creativity and innovation. He contributed to the realization of two World Expos: Expo 2000 in Hannover and Expo 2015 in Milan. He is the Creative Director of the German company Xpand Destination Management and Artistic Director of the Mountain Photography Museum in Bolzano.
In Slovenia, he is particularly renowned for his memorable productions of Renske nimfe (2005) and Otello (2016) on the stage of Cankarjev dom’s Gallus Hall, as well as for productions of Ksenija and Carmina Burana (2017), Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci (2020), and Manon Lescaut (2025).
