Magdalena Anna Hofmann

Magdalena Anna Hofmann has been celebrated at many of the world’s leading opera houses, festivals, and concert halls. Born in Warsaw, she grew up in Vienna, where she studied voice and launched her career as a mezzo-soprano.
After transitioning to the soprano repertoire in 2011, her early roles included Kundry (Parsifal), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten), and the Woman (Erwartung), performed in cities such as Lyon, Copenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, and Essen.
She has appeared at the Semperoper Dresden as Sarai (Die andere Frau), the Foreign Princess (Rusalka), Giulietta (Les Contes d’Hoffmann); at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Leonore (Fidelio); at the Felsenreitschule Salzburg as the Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier); at the Staatsoper Hannover as Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) and the Foreign Princess; at the  Budapest Wagner Days as Brünnhilde (Siegfried); at the May Festival Wiesbaden as Isolde; and at the Basel Opera as Brünnhilde (Die Walküre).
Recently, Hofmann made her debut as Marie (Wozzeck) at the Vlaamse Opera; performed the role of the Foreign Princess in Tenerife; appeared in Schönberg’s Freitag, der 13. at the Theater an der Wien; sang Das Buch der hängenden Gärten at the Konzerthaus Wien and the Festspielhaus Bregenz; and performed Isolde in a new production in Darmstadt.
In the 2025/2026 season, she makes her debut as Elektra in Düsseldorf, performs Sieglinde (Die Walküre) and Brünnhilde (Siegfried) in Budapest, appears as Marie in Beijing and Shanghai; sings Kundry in Act II of Parsifal in Inverness; and performs Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder in Liepāja.
