Grga Peroš
Grga Peroš is a Croatian operatic baritone with an international career, performing primarily in German-speaking countries. He began his musical education in early childhood and continued his studies at the specialized Eli Bašić Music School in Zagreb. After initially studying philosophy and information sciences at the University of Zagreb, he decided to devote himself entirely to singing. In 2011, he enrolled at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in 2015 and his Master’s degree in vocal performance in 2018 under Professor Ulf Bästlein. During his studies, he appeared in roles such as Ramiro (L’heure espagnol), Herr Fluth (The Merry Wives of Windsor), and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), the latter also as a guest performer at
the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has received several scholarships from the City of Graz
and the KUG Friends Association, as well as the Science Prize of the City of Graz (Wissenschaftspreis der Stadt Graz), awarded to him in 2019.
Between 2016 and 2025, he was a member of the ensemble of the Stadttheater Gießen, where he developed an extensive repertoire ranging from Mozart roles (Guglielmo, Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva, Figaro) to highly expressive dramatic baritone parts such as Macbeth, Rigoletto, Eugene Onegin, Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Scarpia (Tosca), and Mandryka (Arabella). He also appeared in works such as Oberon, Ein Herbstmanöver, and Ein Sommernachtstraum, as well as in concert performances of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen.
In the 2025/26 season, he joined the ensemble of the Hannover State Opera, where he has appeared in roles including Telramund (Lohengrin), Scarpia, and Count di Luna (Il trovatore). In addition, he has been a regular guest at the Split Summer Festival.
