Marin Ino

Ballet soloist Marin Ino was born in 1993 in Sapporo. She began studying ballet at the Chida Toshiko Ballet Studio at the age of six. During her training in Japan, she further refined her technique at the Novosibirsk State Choreographic College in Russia, where she studied in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

She has also taken part in numerous ballet competitions, becoming a semi-finalist at the 39th   Prix de Lausanne 2011 and later winning the silver medal at the Mia Čorak Slavenska International Ballet Competition 2021 in Zagreb.

She continued her higher professional training at the Dance Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she was admitted in 2010 by Tom Bosma. The prestigious institution afforded her the opportunity to study classical ballet under internationally renowned pedagogues, as well as to work with the repertoire of the famous NDT (Netherlands Dance Theatre), passed on by its distinguished dancers. During her studies, she also took part in a Christmas production with The Dutch Don't Dance Division, and was coached by Flemming Ryberg,  principal dancer and pedagogue of the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, for the title role of Irma in August Bournonville's ballet Abdallah – the Gazelle of Basra.

After graduating, she joined The Dutch Junior Dance Division, where she remained until 2014. She performed in several works created by Rinus Sprong and Thom Stuart. Particularly valuable and distinctive were her experiences of performing beyond the conventional theatre setting - outdoors, on the beach, and in schools as part of their educational programme, etc.

After a year working as a freelancer, Marin took part in various projects at Korzo Theatre, where she collaborated with the Netherlands Dance Theatre. She also performed at the Solo, Duo Festival in Senegal, appearing in a work choreographed by Rutkay Özpinar.

She was promoted to soloist by artistic director Renato Zanella at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Following the appointment of Lukas Zuschlag as director, she was promoted to first soloist in January 2026.  Among the principal roles that have particularly marked her career at the SNG Opera and balet in recent years are Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Clara in The Nutcracker - A Christmas Carol, Giselle in Giselle, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Tonja in Doctor Zhivago, Eurydice in Orphic Hymn, Gulnara in Le Corsaire, Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby, the Chosen Couple in Sacre, the Prince in The Little Prince, Kitri in Don Quixote, and Alice in Alice in Wonderland.
