Atej Tutta

Atej Tutta (1981) is an artist and filmmaker based in Venice. He holds a Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he subsequently served as Associate Professor from 2009 to 2014. Tutta’s practice spans the visual and performing arts and is characterised by a sustained engagement with interdisciplinary collaboration and conceptual inquiry. In the visual arts, he has contributed to numerous exhibitions in artistic and curatorial capacities, as well as in advisory roles. Among the notable projects to which he has contributed are Elaborare il lutto Arte orfana della specie, For(w)art, Prof. Rodčenko, Divided God, arTVision, and Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies. His own artistic oeuvre includes works such as Threshold, Footprint, and Fuoriscala, which explore the intersections of spatial perception, memory, and materiality. Within the performing arts, Tutta collaborates regularly with philosophers, choreographers, and theatre directors to develop hybrid forms of expression. His colaboration with philosopher and performer Bara Kolenc culminated in the presentation of Metamorfoze 3°: Retorika at the 53rd Theatertreffen in Berlin. He has also worked extensively with director Eduard Miler on productions including Antigona, Terror, Scandal in St. Florian Valley, Kazimir in Karolina, Salomè and Macbeth. Further engagements include scenographic and filmic contributions to Balet 100, commemorating the centenary of the Opera and Ballet in Ljubljana, as well as collaborations with choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen on Orphic Hymn. He also co-conceived a video installation for the Slovenian opera Samorog, directed by Vinko Möderndorfer. A performative project with choreographer and dancer Sanja Nešković Peršin has been presented internationally across Europe, the United States, and Japan. Tutta’s work is marked by a commitment to cross-disciplinary dialogue and an openness to theoretical and artistic experimentation, fostering a continuous renewal of forms, languages, and methodologies within his creative process.
