Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev

Cinderella

PREMIERE: 8. 10. 2026 I A Co-production with the City Theatre Klagenfurt

With his distinctive rhythmic and dramatic music, Sergei Prokofiev created one of the most compelling ballet scores of the twentieth century.

Cinderella interweaves virtuosity, emotional depth, and rich musical storytelling into a work of enduring appeal, one that continues to inspire ever-new interpretations to this day.

In a new ballet production choreographed by Lukas Zuschlag and created in co-production with the City Theatre Klagenfurt, the classical fairy tale is reimagined within a contemporary world shaped by social pressures, illusion, and the search for identity.

The action unfolds in a boarding school and on the construction site of a shoe factory, where reality intertwines with a dreamlike realm of fairies and imagination. At the heart of the story remains the symbolism of the lost shoe—an emblem of connection, longing, and new beginnings.

The production invites audiences to imagine for themselves how the story unfolds beyond its ending ...
