Zdenka Gorenc
Mezzo-soprano Zdenka Gorenc became a soloist with the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana in 1982. She completed her studies of solo singing at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Professor Eva Novšak Houška. She made her debut in Ljubljana Opera while still studying at the Academy, appearing in the role of Fox in Janaček's opera The Cunning Little Vixen. She perfected her technique with Professors Ferdinand Radovan and Alenka Dernač Bunta.
For many years she has been a distinguished soloist of our Opera Theatre, where she has created the following roles: Ulrica (A Masked Ball), First Mother (The Tenth Daughter), Junon (Orpheus in the Underworld), Majda (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride), Nedda (Pagliacci), Flora (La traviata), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Cherub (The Marriage of Figaro), Katherine (The Taming of the Shrew ), Siebel (Faust), Ida (The Bat), Fenena (Nabucco), Frugola (The Overcoat), Mare (Krpan's Mare), Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Meg Page (Falstaff), Magdalena (Rigoletto), Mercedes (Carmen), Pavlina (The Queen of Spades), Buryjovka (Jenůfa), Jera (Janko and Metka), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Marcelina (The Marriage of Figaro), Jocasta (Oedipus Rex), Magda Sorel (The Consul), mezzo-soprano singer in the cantata L’armonia drammatica, Mira (Medea), Azucena (Il trovatore), Popova (The Bear), Drummer Girl (The Emperor of Atlantis), Clarice (The Love for Three Oranges), etc. She has been also performing as a concert singer.
