Vlatka Oršanić
Soprano Vlatka Oršanić studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Professor Otta Klasinc and perfected her skills under Professor Olivera Miljaković in Vienna. When still studying, she received the prestigious Prešeren Award and later on won an international singing competition in Italy. She started her professional career as a very young singer, when she was engaged as a soloist in the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana) to seize later on many important singing opportunities abroad. She returned to the Ljubljana Opera as a renowned opera singer in 2003, where she has been a principal since 2006.
Since her debut as Sophie (Werther), she created the following roles: Gilda and Maddalena (Rigoletto), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Adina (The Elixir of Love), Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Angelica (Orlando), Olympia (The Tales of Hoffmann), Elvira (The Puritans), Violetta (La traviata), Susanna and Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte (Women are like That)), Donna Elvira and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Eurydice (Orpheus), Bastiena (Bastien and Bastiena), Tamiri (Il re pastore (The Shepherd King)), Mila (Destiny), Rosalinda (The Bat), Jenufa, Mimi (La bohéme), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Vittelia (The Clemency of Titus), Mařenka (The Bartered Bride), Katerina Izmailova (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District), Aida, Leonora (Il trovatore (The Troubadour), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Ariadne (Ariadne on Naxos), Elettra (Idomeneo), Natasha (War and Peace), Genoveva, Málinka (The Excursions of Mr. Broucek), Abigaile (Nabucco), Marguerite (Faust), Tosca, Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly), Maddalena (Andrea Chenier), Dido and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Rusalka and The Foreign Princess (Rusalka), Miss Todd (The Old Maid and the Thief), Herodias (Salome), Kát'a and Kabanicha (Kát'a Kabanová). The respected singer also boasts an enviable concert repertoire.
Mrs. Oršanić has performed on the finest European opera and concert stages (in Vienna, Salzburg, Madrid, Edinburgh, Berlin, Paris, Frankfurt on Main, Cologne, Dresden, Leipzig, Munich, Florence, Zurich, Prague, Rotterdam and Bilbao). She has also toured in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka). She has participated in some of the most prominent European music festivals (Salzburg Festival, Vienna Party Weeks, Edinburgh International Festival, Festival d'automne Paris, May Music Festival in Florence, etc.). The renowned soprano has recorded several CD's for Sony Classical and Emi. Vlatka Oršanić is a full Professor of Solo Singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. She was also a Professor of Solo Singing at the Academy of Ljubljana from 2006 to 2010. She has received a number of important awards in Croatia. In Slovenia she received the Samo Smerkolj Professional Award and Betetto Award for Artistic Achievements in the Field of Music (2012).
