Aljaž Farasin

Aljaž Farasin - a distinguished opera soloist of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana) since 2015 -, studied at the Secondary School of Music - course of solo singing - under Professor Jolanda Korat. In 2004 he won a First Prize at the National Singing Competition. He graduated with highest distinction from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Associate Professor Vlatka Oršanić (2008). He was granted his degree with summa cum laude for his artistic achievements and finished his postgraduate studies under the same Professor in the academic year of 2009/2010.

In 2009 he made his singing debut with the role of Sempronio (The Impresario) in the SNG Opera in balet, where he has been permanently employed since 2013. He has also appeared on our stage as: Alfred (The Bat), Alfredo Germond (La traviata), Narraboth (Salome), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Rodolfo (La bohème), Don Jóse (Carmen), Cassio (Otello), Franjo (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), Daland's Steersman (The Flying Dutchman) and Camille (The Merry Widow).

Aljaž Farasin has been regularly appearing as a guest singer in the HNK Ivana pl. Zajca (Croatian National Theatre Ivan Pl. Zajc) in Rijeka, Praha Narodni divadlo (National Theatre in Prague) as well as in the HNK Split (Croatian National Theatre in Split). Among the roles he has created on his guest appearances so far are: Vaudemint (Iolanta), Werther and Faust. He has recorded the role of Faust in the eponymous opera with Carlo Colombaro and Lucio Gallo for the record label Universal Classic in 2016.
