Yuki Seki

Yuki Seki started his ballet training in 1993, in Nagano (Japan), where he studied in the class of Professors Tamae and Mihori Tsukada. From 2007 to 2008 he perfected his knowledge at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School under Professor Valentin Onoschko. In 2009 became a soloist in the Ballet Theatre in Sibiu (Teatrul de balet Sibiu) in Romania.

In January 2007 he took part in the NBA Ballet Competition in Tokyo, where he was awarded a Scholarship of the Vienna State Opera Ballet School. In April the same year he took part in the Youth America Grand Prix Competition in New York, which he ended up as a finalist.

The young dancer took part in the performance Nickel Stuff, co-produced by the Mladinsko Theatre and SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana). In summer 2015 he was a guest dancer and teacher at the Ballet Studio Masa, Saitama in Japan. In 2015 he danced the part of Escamilio in the ballet Carmen (in a co-production between DBUS (Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia), Young Slovenian Ballet and the Flamenco Dance Group CoraViento).

He joined the Ljubljana Opera Ballet Ensemble in the 2010/2011 season, and was promoted to its soloist in 2014. He has since then appeared in a number of ballets from our theatre's repertoire, such as Ballet 100, Orphic Hymn (Orpheus, Hades), A Man with a Knife / Composition, Giselle (Hilarion), Great Gatsby (Teddy Barton) and Le Corsaire (Seyd-Pasha).
