Filippo Jorio

Filippo Jorio was born in Turin, Italy. He began his ballet studies at the age of 8 in various private ballet schools in Turin and from 2010 he studied under Oxana Kichenko. During those years he perfected his technique at various ballet seminars in Italy and abroad such as International Dance Seminar in Komiza, International Dance Seminar Nina Soldun with teachers from Vaganova academy in Rapallo, Bolshoi Ballet Academy seminars in Turin and Bolshoi Summer Intensive at the academy in Moscow. In 2012 he auditioned for the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart where he was accepted and where he graduates afterwards in 2014. In the years in Stuttgart Filippo studied under Tadeusz Matacz, Dimitri Magitov and Sarah Abendroth and he danced in the academy performances in productions such as Allegro Brillante from Balanchine, Simple Symphony from Alastair Marriott and Ryu from Kinsun Chan.

In September 2014 he joined the SNG Opera in Balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana) as corp the ballet and in April of 2015 he got promoted as demisoloist.
With the Slovenian National Ballet he gets the chance of dancing many roles, from corps de ballet, to demisoloist and soloist
Some of his outstanding solo roles are: Bluebird Pas de Deux (Sleeping Beauty), Benvolio (Romeo and Juliet), Packo (Picko Packo), Peter (Peter and the Wolf), Peasant Pas de Deux (Giselle), Lok Pas de Deux (Ballet 100), Lankedem (Le Corsaire), Leichtes Blut (Everybody Waltzes), Devil and Russian dance (Nutcracker), Pas de Trois (Swanlake)
He also performed in different galas connected with the Theatre dancing main roles as Bluebird pas de deux and Corsaire variation. He also took part in all the international tours of the company dancing in Bonn, Sarajevo, Brno, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Bogotá for FITBogota, Astana for Eurasian Dance Festival, Trieste, Klagenfurt. Furthermore he took part in different operas such as Madama Butterfly, The Bat, Carmen and in contemporary projects as “Globina Pogleda”, choreography by Kristina Aleksova.
In July 2021 he was awarded with bronze medal at the International Ballet Competition Slavenska in Zagreb where he performed Pas de Esclave Pas de Deux and one creation of his own for the contemporary category entitled “Catch".
In January 2022 he got promoted as ballet soloist.
