The Slovenian Woman of the Year Award for 2011 will be presented at the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana on 17th January 2012, at 5 PM. Thus, this year's nominees will be introduced to the public and the winner of the prestigious award will be solemnly announced as well. The ceremony will also mark the 40th anniversary of the Jana magazine. And, who is to become the Slovenian Woman of the year? This year’s nominees are: Maja Keuc – a popular singer and a much needed role model for our younger generation, Dragica Kraljič – a director of one of the Ljubljana's nursery schools and a defectologist with many years of experience, Tina Maze – a top skier, who has been moving the mountains and reaching the stars with her »team to aMaze«for the last four years, Vilma Novak - a midwife at the Ljubljana Maternity Hospital and a volunteer, working with the persons with disorders of neural development, Fanči Perdih – a head of the only ecological seed house in Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar – a legal expert and a first public information representative in Slovenia, Ruth Podgornik Reš – a renowned gardener and an authoress of numerous books on gardening, Jelka Reichman – an artist, whose illustrations have certainly instilled gracefulness, warmth and gentleness into the Slovenian children's books and picture books, Majda Struc – a long-time president of the Friends of Youth Association in Maribor and a current general secretary of the Friends of Youth Association, Vilma Topolšek - a proud housekeeper, who takes care of one the first tourist farms in Slovenia together with her family, Katja Zabukovec Kerin - a president of the Association for Non-violent Communication, Milena Zupančič - most certainly a first lady of the Slovenian theatre and film, who has recently retired.
